Southeast corner of the Balboa Studio quadrangle, the original building and site of the California Motion Picture Manufacturing Company (1910) and the Edison studio outpost (1913). This corner predates the Lasky Barn of Hollywood by three years. Note the palmtrees and the alternating white statues--electric light posts (called "electroliers") lining all sidewalks of the studio's four corners, evidence of the Horkeimers' attention to high standards of maintenance and elegance on the studio grounds.
